Probably the best introduction to the subject on the market. It contains brief, easily understood examples that guide the reader to understanding the ideas within the rulebook.
The opportunity for misunderstandings, and sending wrong messages is rather high. There is also addendums on oral arguments, fallacies, definition, and a note on the place of argument in the studies of logic and rhetoric. I read this book in two extended sittings with indepth study, because the book is two in one.

It states important rules, the different arguments, the process for essay writing, and fallacies. My library Help Advanced Book Search. The book shows using practical explanations and examples how to construct arguments properly. I read it all in one go, and that’s a bit counter-productive, seeing as you won’t be able to remember all of it unless you’re crazy smart, in which case, you probably don’t need this book. This small book acts as a guide on how to make good arguments in writing. It explains how you should do it and gives some useful definitions so you will know what others are referring too. The second chapter is Arguments by Example. I wish more authors would follow argumnts guidelines, in my future books I will. Although the book does not provide the references and the ways to control gesture, it is considered to be very useful rulebook, especially for the trainers or teachers and also the English department students in lecturing or studying the rules of developing good arguments.

Yeah, it’s a well chosen title. This flr popular primer–translated into eight languages–remains the first choice in all disciplines for writers who seek straightforward guidance about how to assess arguments and how to cogently construct them. Rewards indepth study over time and practice. The fifth chapter is Arguments about Causes. Again, worth the read. Weston also uses examples of good and bad arguments so argumebts the important aspects and even the most common fallacies are covered in the book.
Seriously, a must read for everyone. From starting with premises, testing them, considering multiple perspectives, different types of evidence, and logic.

The first three of these are fairly obvious, but the sections on hypothetical syllogisms, disjunctive syllogisms, and “reductio ad absurdum” reduction to absurdity constructions are somewhat less self-evident and should be thoroughly understood before proceeding with the remainder of the book.
